Jesmonite is an eco-friendly casting material used for making candle holders, coasters, trays, sculptures, and architectural designs. It is lightweight yet durable, and is water-based, making it safer and sustainable than resin.

Jesmonite AC100 is an Acrylic Modified Gypsum Composite compared to Jesmonite AC730 which is an Acrylic Modified Cementitious Composite. Jesmonite AC100 contains gypsum and is designed to replicate very fine surface detail and Jesmonite AC730 contains decorative aggregates and is designed to replicate concrete and stone surfaces.

For casting Jesmonite AC100, every 1,000ml of mould volume will require 1,750g of complete mixed Jesmonite AC100 (1,750g Jesmonite AC100 = 1000ml). You can use our Jesmonite calculator

Jesmonite materials are water based and non-solvent however, please be aware that we have not tested any Jesmonite products for food safety. Jesmonite material solutions can be used for decorative tableware; however, we would not recommend you place food or liquids onto the finished Jesmonite products.

✔️ Always follow the correct mix ratio (e.g., 2.5:1 for AC100).

✔️ Add powder to liquid (not the other way around) for a smooth mix.

✔️ Stir gently to avoid air pockets.

✔️ Tap your mold after pouring to release trapped air.

Not all Jesmonite types are suitable for outdoor use. Jesmonite AC100 works best for indoor projects, while Jesmonite AC730 is designed for outdoor applications because it is waterproof and weather-resistant.

You can mix Jesmonite pigments directly into the liquid before adding powder. For marbled effects, pour different colors into the mold and swirl them gently. Always start with a small amount of pigment and build up the color.

Cracking happens due to:

❌ Using too much water in the mix.

❌ Pouring in extreme temperatures (too hot or too cold).

❌ Not mixing properly – always follow the exact powder-to-liquid ratio.

Jesmonite is naturally strong, but sealing adds extra protection. Use a Jesmonite Acrylic sealer or Jesmonite Glossy Sealer to prevent stains and achive water repellency.

Jesmonite AC100 cured surfaces can be sanded using a variety of sandpaper grades to achieve a range of different surface appearances and textures. Most users will start with a coarse sandpaper and then move onto a fine sandpaper grade for finer finishing. The sanding process can be done by hand or with a power sander.

If you’re new to resin art, we recommend Epoke Resin Hobby Kit (3:1) because it’s easy to mix, has a long working time (24 hours touch dry), and produces a crystal-clear finish. It’s perfect for small projects like coasters, keychains, and trays. If you need fast curing, try Epoke Quick Coat (2:1), which dries in just 8 hours.

• Casting Resin: Designed for deep pours (like river tables, molds, and thick layers). It cures slower to prevent overheating.
• Coating Resin: Best for thin layers (artwork, tabletops, and gloss finishes). It has a higher viscosity and self-levels smoothly.

If you need a high-gloss finish, go for Epoke Quick Coat. For deep pours, use Epoke MegaCast.

Bubbles form due to improper mixing or pouring. Here’s how to avoid them:

✔️ Mix slowly to prevent air from getting trapped.

✔️ Let the resin rest for a few minutes before pouring.

✔️ Use a heat gun or torch to remove bubbles after pouring.

✔️ Seal porous surfaces (like wood) before applying resin.

Yes, epoxy resin works great on wood for tables, coasters, and art. To get the best results:

✔️ Seal the wood first to prevent bubbles.
✔️ Use Epoke MegaCast for deep pours or Epoke Quick Coat for a smooth top layer.
✔️ Make sure the wood is dry before applying resin.

Sticky or soft resin happens due to:

❌ Incorrect mixing ratio – Always measure by weight, not volume.

❌ Not enough mixing – Stir for at least 3-5 minutes, scraping the sides.

❌ Low room temperature – Keep your workspace at 25-28°C for best curing.

If your resin is sticky, try sanding and recoating or using a thin layer of fresh resin.

If your resin has dents or waves, you can:

✔️ Sand it down with fine-grit sandpaper (400-600 grit).
✔️ Apply a fresh layer of resin for a smooth finish.
✔️ Use a heat gun while pouring to help it self-level.

To start making candles, you’ll need:

✔️ Wax – We recommend EcoSoya wax for a natural, clean burn.

✔️ Wicks – Choose the right wick size based on your container.

✔️ Fragrance Oils – For scented candles, use high-quality fragrance oils.

✔️ Dyes or Pigments (optional) – Add color to customize your candles.

✔️ Containers or Molds – Use heat-safe jars or silicone molds for pillar candles.

✔️ Double Boiler or Wax Melter – For safely melting wax.

✔️ Thermometer – To monitor wax temperature for the best pour.

The best wax depends on the type of candle you want to make:

✔️ EcoSoya CB-Advanced – Ideal for container candles, offering smooth tops and strong scent throw.

✔️ EcoSoya Pillar Blend – Best for mold and pillar candles, with excellent mold release.

✔️ EcoSoya Melt Wax – Perfect for making wax melts and tarts with great fragrance retention.

All EcoSoya waxes are 100% plant-based, paraffin-free, and biodegradable, making them a top choice for eco-conscious candle makers.

✔️ Melt your wax using a double boiler at the recommended temperature (60-85°C, depending on the wax type).

✔️ Stir gently and add fragrance oil when the wax reaches the correct temperature.

✔️ Pour slowly into your jar or mold at the ideal pouring temperature (50-70°C, depending on the wax).

✔️ Let the candle cool at room temperature for a smooth finish.

Always check your wax specifications for the best temperature settings.

The recommended fragrance load for EcoSoya waxes is 10-12%, depending on the wax type:

✔️ For strong scent throw: Use 10-12% fragrance oil per 1kg of wax.

✔️ For a subtle scent: Use 8% fragrance oil per 1kg of wax.

✔️ Always stir well for 2 minutes after adding fragrance oil to ensure even distribution.

Too much fragrance can cause poor burning, sweating, or weak adhesion.

✔️ Soy candles (like those made with EcoSoya wax) need 1-2 weeks of curing time to fully develop their scent throw.

✔️ Pillar and mold candles can be used after 48 hours, but curing for a few extra days improves fragrance retention.

✔️ Store cured candles in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and moisture.

Curing helps the wax bind properly with fragrance oils, giving you the best scent experience when burned.

If your candles have rough or sunken tops:

✔️ Use a heat gun to melt the surface and even it out.

✔️ Pour a thin second layer to fix imperfections.

✔️ Keep it in an airtight container to prevent moisture.

✔️ Store at room temperature (25°C) away from direct sunlight.

Most epoxy resins last 6-12 months after opening if stored properly.

✔️ Wash with warm, soapy water after use.

✔️ Let them dry completely before reusing.

✔️ Slightly heat the mold and wipe off excess wax.

✔️ Use warm soapy water to remove residue.
