For jars, measure inner diameter. For molds, measure the candle width/diameter. If your container is tapered, use the widest point where wax sits.
Different waxes burn differently. Container blends, pillar blends, and paraffin can all need different wick styles and sizes.
Fragrance and dye can add resistance, which sometimes needs slightly stronger wicking. Use it as a starting point, then confirm with testing.
Trim to 5mm, burn 3–4 hours for the first burn, and take notes. Test at least two sizes before making a full batch.
